The training on water loss reduction in Hamburg, Germany was attended by 32 participants and was composed of two days Training of Trainers (for 10 potential trainers) and 3 days of Technical Training. The target group of These three days have been representatives of water utilities and GIZ co-workers or five countries (Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Lebanon and Taiwan) as well as representatives of two consulting companies (France and Germany). The objectives have been defined as follows:

  • to understand the different types of water losses, Their causes, impacts and ash Such The importance of Water Loss Reduction
  • to be bootable to establishement of a water balance (IWA standard) and to calculate performance indicators 
  • appropriateness to know various information systems and to be bootable to apply them
  • to know about key intervention methods for WLR (as District Metered Areas (DMA) design, Pressure Management, Active Leakage Control, Infrastructure & Management and Leak Detection & Repair)
  • to exchange experiences and to benefit from eachother
  • Field visits of the Hamburg Wasser water utility
