A water loss reduction training has been organised in Hamburg for 25 representatives from water utilities, GIZ and consultancies of 7+
countries:Caribbean (St. Vincent, Granada, Dominica, St. Lucia, etc.), Uganda, Germany, France, Kosovo, Bosnia and Palestine.


The objectives of the training course have been defined as follows:

  • to understand the different types of water losses, their causes, impacts and as such the importance of Water Loss reduction
  • to be able to establish a water balance (IWA standard) and to calculate performance indicators
  • to know about key intervention methods for WLR (as District Metered Areas (DMA) design, Pressure Management, Active Leakage Control, Infrastructure & Management and Leak Detection & Repair)
  • to exchange experiences and to benefit from each other
